Not Wasting Winter

The NWCA wants the 1997-98 cricket season to be even better than 1996-97, so we are using the off season to get valuable prepartion done.

Even before last season was over, we had held an open meeting with junior team officials which came up with several recommendations for improvements in the junior area.

After a lot of serious consideration about how to fund necessary initiatives without further imposing on the restricted finances available to local cricket, we have put together a range of sponsorship opportunities which will make it easy for NWCA sponsors to effectively reach their target audience.

At the April Executive Meeting, playing dates and meeting dates were approved, and combined side training and playing dates were proposed, together forming the basis of the NWCA Calendar for Season 1997-98.

The Executive is meeting on Monday, 19th May, for the annual review of competition rules, including a proposed simplification of Under 10 rules, and on Monday, 16th June, to finalise the NWCA budget for 1997-98.

Clubs are reminded that their preliminary entry forms must be received by 31st May and that clubs paying their entry deposit by that date will get a 5% discount.

The Executive has resolved to co-ordinate a meeting to start the groundwork for forming a new club to service the rapidly growing Sydenham area and will be taking our ideas to forthcoming VCA Zone Council meetings.

The NWCA Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday, 7th July, and new Executive members will be needed to get our numbers back to the level required to sustain our current level of operation. If we do not get sufficient volunteers, the Executive has resolved to roster Luscombe Shield clubs to provide the extra numbers needed.
